swing-videoContext
Real video (not stills), driver, filmed from behind/side-on during extra balls hit after the planned session. Extracted at native frame rate (~51-62fps) around the top-of-backswing/transition, giving many frames bracketing that moment -- full sequencing assessment is in scope, not just position checks.
Observations
- Sequencing / Over-the-topTop-of-backswing position itself looks solid: full shoulder turn, good width, hands reach a proper height. The backswing isn't the issue.
- Sequencing / Over-the-topComparing the frame at the top (hips still square, fully coiled) to the very next frames (~0.06-0.08s later): the club and arms have already dropped substantially -- the shaft swings from vertical-behind-the-head down through roughly 45 degrees -- while the hips show almost no rotation yet. The lower body only starts visibly opening a couple of frames after that. This is the arms/club initiating the downswing before the lower body, the same pattern the 9/12 lesson's video review found with the 7-iron (r-2026-09-12-a) -- now confirmed on driver, at full speed, not just irons or drills.
Verdict
This directly answers the open question from the pressure test block: the 'more vertical' feel wasn't a correction, it was the same over-the-top pattern -- arms and club dropping steeply from the top before the hips clear, which is exactly what produces a steep, vertical-feeling downswing and the big right curve seen in both driver blocks today. The backswing and top position are genuinely fine; the fix is still entirely about the transition, matching the coach's existing 'let the arms drop' cue and the step-change/pump-drill work. Worth showing this exact video to Adrian -- it's the clearest evidence yet that the fault is identical on driver and irons, just more visible/costly on the longer club.
