Context

Toptracer screenshot from the warm-up block of today's session (s-2026-09-27), 50-degree wedge. One shot's numbers shown; user separately reported 8 good strikes and 2 mishits (one toe, one top) across the 10-shot warm-up.

Observations

  • Center-Face Contact13-degree launch and a 25ft apex are both low for a full 50-degree wedge swing carrying 85 yards — that combination (flat, penetrating flight rather than the higher, softer-landing shot a 50-degree loft normally produces) is the classic signature of a thin or topped strike, not a flush one. It's plausible this particular shot is the 'top' the user mentioned rather than one of the 8 good ones, despite the distance looking reasonable.
  • Distance / Ball Speed ConsistencyFirst wedge numbers logged (previous stats history was 7-iron only): 89.5mph ball speed, 85.4yd carry, 117yd total. No baseline exists yet for this club to compare against.

Verdict

Distance looks fine on paper, but the launch angle/apex combination doesn't match what a clean 50-degree wedge strike should look like — worth treating this as likely one of today's mishits rather than a good strike, and a reminder that flight shape (not just carry distance) is the tell for contact quality on partial/full wedge shots. Keep using the impact tape from today's plan to confirm toe vs. center vs thin directly rather than inferring it from ball flight.
